The story behind Apothenie began many years ago...
As sisters-in-law living in England (Nichola) and Canada (Stephanie), we bonded over the mutual belief that living a clean, pure and healthy a lifestyle as possible was the way we wanted to live out both our own and our family’s lives.
After many years of sharing stories, recipes, ideas and products that lend themselves to this, it dawned on us that it would make sense to collaborate and create a product together that not only matched our lifestyle and health beliefs; but also nurtured our creative sides.
Out of the discovery that many of the scented products currently available to us contain synthetically derived and potentially harmful ingredients, the idea to try to produce a safer and cleaner product was born!
What became of this is the beautiful collection you see here (albeit after much testing, trial and error and a load of very valued feedback from family and friends). This range of carefully curated scented products use only all natural ingredients with 100% natural essential oils, all presented in a luxury glass jar or bottle, which can either be refilled or repurposed in any number of ways.
It is our firm belief that if you choose a scented product in your home, then a clean, pure and natural ingredient one is the only option.
All of our candles are free from paraffin wax, palm wax, lead, chemical fragrance oils and dyes.
Just the way it should be.
OUR INGREDIENTS
Our focus as a company is to give people healthier, cleaner and more sustainable options so we try our hardest to continually source the cleanest and purest ingredients that we can find. By doing this we can ensure we are confident that the product we are offering meets our natural and clean expectations.
We have included some extra detail below on our candle ingredients as we get lots of lovely questions.
EcoSoya Wax
This 100% plant based wax is extremely clean burning and stable. It is an all natural wax that is sustainable, renewable and biodegradable. It is free of pesticides and herbicide residue. No petroleum products in sight!
Cotton wicks
We source eco-friendly wicks for our candles that are natural and made from 100% cotton. The wicks are pre waxed in natural wax and so are paraffin-free, contain no lead, zinc or other metals. They leave little to no soot and are non-toxic and biodegradable.
Natural Essential Oils
We source high grade, pure and natural essential oils that have a wonderful scent when blended. Essential oils are the purest form of scented oils as they are made from the distillation of rinds or natural materials with steam or water and so they contain no additives or chemicals.
